Gilberto L. Matute
Gilberto Matute began his career at Berman & Berman as a Law Clerk and subsequently became an Associate Attorney upon being admitted to the Florida Bar in the fall of 2013. Gilberto enjoys and looks forward to working with numbers and easily transitioned into defending the rights of taxpayers in front of the Internal Revenue Service. Gilberto had previous exposure to dealing with the U.S. Government through the Immigration and Human Rights Legal Clinic at FIU College of Law. He now works extensively alongside David Berman in an effort to have IRS liabilities removed or reduced, and often try to reach payment arrangements that are suitable to the taxpayer's financial abilities. When he is not working on an IRS related controversy, Gilberto is preparing Wills and Trusts, among other Estate Planning tools to help individuals and families properly transfer wealth and inheritances while minimizing the future costs of a probate proceeding or estate taxes. Gilberto is the youngest of four siblings and proud uncle of 9 nieces and nephews. He studied Criminal Justice and Political Science at Florida International University, where he also received his Law degree. He is an avid sports fan, particularly basketball which he enjoys playing as well; he also has taken on running recreational 5k races for charitable purposes. Gilberto is passionate about the practice of law and has a mindset to always put clients interest first and foremost.
